Monday's Kitchen Work

Just wanted to say I did not get everything on this video. Dinner went out because dh called and we had a meeting with a realtor last evening. I am hoping to show how the ferments turned out and the garden later. I also forgot to explain what kefir is and why we drink it...

Jessica,
I watched all of Candy's and DeNeice's videos and really enjoyed them. I enjoyed yours just as much. You know how it's nice to put a face with a voice? Well, it's also nice to put a voice with a face. You're really a cute girl :)

Thanks for the compliments- I didn't realize how soft spoken I was or that I have kind of a raw edge to my voice...must be sinus or something. I am currently in the midst of making another one, so stay tuned :)

I just love your videos and candy's and denise's- Love, love them! They are so motivating, encouraging and such an example to us all. You are too cute and you look great girl!

I wanted to know how I could get started making kefir? What powder would you suggest for a starter? Where did you get yours? Also How long can you keep in fridge for? And do you need to wash mason jars & rotate and put in clean jars to keep fresh?

I have a lot of bowel issues. I was diagnosed with diverticulitis at my ripe ol' age of 33- not good. I need to keep my intenstines flowing well and no irritability and or straining etc...as over time the walls of my colon can continue to get damaged. Most people over 50-60 have it but im starting early with it and if I don't take care of it now I am in seriouse trouble. Im sure i have eaten totally porcessed flour and not much real whole wheat my whole life. I can also get attacks which can be quite seriouse. So far I only had a mild one last year which was how I found out about my condition after follow up and a colonoscopy (I actually felt the best I had ever felt after being cleansed out which is odd but maybe it was because everything was out) Sorry I don't mean to be gross or anything but I assume thats what a natural cleanser would do I guess).

Anyway my fears are that in making kefir, cream cheese, etc...It would get mold then I wouldn't know it and get sick etc... I have had 2 casses of food poinsioning already (and was told I can be suceptible to others once I had it already)The food poinsoning felt worse then labor pains- no joke! So im very catuoise & careful now of everything I eat. I certainly don't want too much bacteria and get food poisoning or worse. Whats your opinion, I know im just being fearful because of my health issues and my food poinsoning experiences. At the same time im not helping my contion one bit my continuing to eat how im eating. So I need to get over these fears and educate myself or Things will just go down hill for me. Im young with 4 kids and my hubby needs me and my kids do to.

Any help or tips would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks so much & God bless!
