Ok, I can't help but post more pictures of our church feast. It was such a labor of love and sort of 'birth to my baby' so to speak. I wanted to describe what we did to decorate too. We took some large cardboard boxes, and painted with a dry brush and brown paint to make it appear textured. Then we painted the brick marks. Matt had the idea of printing a picture of some place in Israel onto a transparency for the overhead projector, and projecting it onto the 'window' of cardboard to make it look as if we were looking out on the city of Jerusalem. We found a thin plastic sheet of tablecloth material and stretched it taut on the window opening and it worked GREAT!!!

Of course no one took a picture of that, but you can barely see it behind me and my dear husband Matthew, who is very much in character. He also rigged up a 'ceremonial washing' cart with a pot, pitcher of water and bowl of soap. Here he is helping people to wash their hands before we partake of the meal. (my apron must have been poofed out, because I look rather pregnant here, and I'm NOT!!)

We also bought some wall sconces and attached them by the windows (which we covered with more painted cardboard) and lit candles there. I had the music from Ben-Hur playing which was perfect. Matt found some actual oil lamps in the style of the time of Jesus on the internet. However when they came in the mail we found out we'd been a bit deceived- they were tiny! They did actually burn the olive oil and added an interesting touch to the table. You can see them more clearly on the pictures in the below post. I can't resist adding a picture of my best friend Amanda. (the young lady on the left)
Also, the room was very dim, with just the candlelight and the light from the overhead, but this camera must have had a bright flash! Oh well, wish you all could have been there to really see it :)

I know I've already commented on this so much but I swear...this is one of the coolest, neatest, most special ideas I have come across lately! And you and your dear husband are special people to take the time out of your busy lives to share this with your fellow church members.

Aww, thanks so much everyone. God just really pressed this on my heart and I went with it :) I give Him the credit :) It was hard to coordinate with dh being gone and me needing to take care of my girls, feed them, keep up with the house and work on the feast. I won't be ready to do it again for awhile :)
